535D M Sport

As you may be aware, this is what Im thinking of getting next....or maybe a Audi A6 3.0TDi Quattro Le-Mans, but I'm thinking the BMW is more of a drivers car.

Anyway, I wish I'd sold my S3, as I've been offered a 535d M Sport Touring today(fully loaded, and I'm really after a saloon but), it is a 2007/57 plate with 25k, on it, guess how much??? - trade price by the way

Be a little bit sensible, this car is £45k+ new, if it was that cheap, I'd own it already!!!!

£26.5k, is what I can buy it for, thats over £20k off list, an absolute bargain, it must have £7k's of options on it, I've even thought of just trading my S3 to get it, but there will be plenty more along - I dont understand why, as they are wll under the 225g/km mark, so no reason for the massive drop?? These are usually bullet proof residual wise

Oli, is it a bit rough - bodywork, interior? or has it been in a smash?

Very cheap and it just says anyone who is selling this kind of car at the moment has had a change in personal circumstances. i.e. cannot keep up repayments or has to turn it back into cash which is very sad for them.

I guess us lot with big engine cars just have to keep hold at the moment and see what the long term picture is. For 90% of the motoring public a 2.0l petrol/diesel or less is more than adequate for there every need and hence why the premium for big engine cars is narrowing on the used front.

'Average' trade in value is £25.5k, so that's a great price.

Just shows the dire state that the markets in.

They are some nice ones being sold as 'Approved Used Cars' for less than £28k and you've got to think that the dealer would do them for £26 (ish) at the moment.

It's absolutely brutal out there. I decided against buying a 750i in the end, but the one I had my eye on was £1k less than the glass's guide average trade in value.

I couldn't bear the thought of selling my 330i for a pittance though.

The Glasses guide price for this is £32k, so its well off book, and it has all the options.

In fact I've just emailled the guy with an even sillier bid, to see if I can buy it. My wife and I only do 6000 miles a year max now, so it will be back in line mileage wise in18 months or so!!!

Oli, have you seen any older Jag XK8s on offer in the trade?

That 535d is seriously good value for money!

I'd better qualify my last post! I have got the Jaguar bug! I fancy an XK8 convertible to use as an 'occasional' car, I couldn't afford the petrol as an everyday drive (but then again the price is coming down). They are stunning looking cars and it strikes me that now is the time to buy a BIG engined car. Have done lots of 'research' and there are plenty of pitfalls in XK ownership (Nikasil, tensioners, rear suspension, water pumps etc) but .............. this one is from a Jag dealer!

Sorry to have gone off topic..... (a bit) Still wouldn't mind that 535d Touring

To be fair I don'thave much to do with them, but I'm sure they will be cheap - give me a rough idea of year etc, and I'll have a look now, to see what they are trading at

Oli, would be looking at something like 98-01, either an XK8 or XKR convertible, up to 70,000 miles and Full history (of course). That one at the Jag dealer has a Glasses part ex price of something like £8K, but I would assume that the actual price would be well behind glasses.

We've just bought a 535d as a pool car.
It was a car that we had been contract hiring for the last three years, so we'd run it from new.
535d saloon, carbon black with black leather, pretty much all of the options - 19's, HUD, adaptive headlights, privacy, Nav etc etc (plus we'd had a DMS map put on it)
It has 69k miles on it, obviously FDSH
We paid £18k

Ooops, I would say this is nearer to 15k, looking at other prices - but you you do know the car and that helps

If I had some spare cash right now I'd definitely lose the 330i and get a big diesel, sadly I'm skint. Seems like a great price for a *lot* of car.
