Angry I Have been keyed :( HELP!

Guys My silver 320d e90 got keyed really badly 5 scratches all together 1 being very long on the front fender at 30cm the rest vary from 5-10cm each. crappy pics (sorry). Its not down to primer but its deep enough to be felt by a finger nail. The only issue is dont have much cash at the mo as the misus got made redundant, so I thought I tackle it my self. I bought the right touch up paint and got 3000 grit wet&dry, borrowed Autogylm Super resin polish. T-cut. and took me mums halfords crappy rotary polisher. But my touch up skills wasn't so great as I gone over the sides of the scratch and haven't lacquered it yet, I really dont know what step should be next do I laquer first then sand it down or try and sand down to get the excess paint I put a post in Detailing world but nothing so far.. I got about £100 to spare as paying the mortgage is gonna be tough this month.. any help/guidance is appreciated. Thx chaps.

You have my (and everybody else's, I should imagine) total sympathy, both for your wife's work predicament and for what happend. Scummy bastards who did that should be taken to the middle of the North Sea and thrown overboard.

Unfortunately it needs spraying

I feel really sorry for you, the people who did this should be shot.

But it does need spraying

It's a long while since I've used one of the "Chips Away" type services but you may find that they'll charge in the region of £100 or so to do that. Worth phoning up and asking.

Sorry to hear that, makes me sick when I hear of idiots damaging other peoples cars for no reason.

Personnally I wouldn't try to fix it myself, I'd stick some wax on it to stop water getting in and wait till I have some cash to get it done by a Pro. Either way I hope you get it sorted.

Bad luck. I'm gutted for you.

The halfords rotary polisher won't be powerful enough for this. My advice would be to find a professional detailer via detailing world and see what they can do.

Very sorry to hear - I agree with what others have said, it really needs doing professionally. A good detailer might improve your attempted repair (no offence mean't) but the only way you are going to get rid of the damage completely will be to spray it.

If you're going to use a Chips Away guy then get some advice/recommendations for your area - some are better than others. Some are from a bodyshop background whilst others are not.

My advice like Mistry is to wax it for the winter - save up some money and do it next year.

Send the pond scum to Afghanistan I say (teach em to grow up a bit).

Guys thank you for your sympathy and support... Some nice chaps at detailing world has given me advice but like I am not really handy with paint or bodywork. I am gonna get some quotes from chips away and scuff busters etc. and see if at least I can get the big scratch done for about £100, wax up . and see what I can do

Not those ones but I have used www.smartsolutionsuk.co.uk The guy who comes round, Andy, used to do the touching up and paint jobs at Cooper Thames Ditton so he's experienced with BMWs

Really gutted for you - this is one of my biggest worries when i park my car anywhere - its so gut wrenching to see it - if i managed to catch some little scumbag doing this to mine or even anyone elses car i fear i may find myself doing hard time for it - really gets to me. I wish you luck with it. Like most comments it needs doing professionally, you could end up making it look worse. I just hope that whoever did it doesnt wait for you to fix it and then return for another go. Have you upset anyone recently!!??

I would try to talk to one of the detailing guys, ideally one who does paint as well as polishing. I reckon they might do a better job than chips away.

I am so sorry mate, its gut wrenching to see that. I had mine done years ago, and the only way I could get my head round it was to accept that that the person who did it will never have had the last laugh, you will. He'll always be a jealous sad c**nt, and you'll always be the one in the nice motor.

I use to work in halfords as a youngster on the body care section, saw this kind of thing every weekend, some real special motors too, sickening.

It looks like a respray im afraid, but try posting in our own WashWaxandDetail forums for any short term advice, some real prof detailers on there...

Try to chill mate, I think we all felt that one!!

I had that done to me a few years ago. I know exactly how you feel, I was angry, gutted, saddened that people would do it, all the emotions.

It was jealously no doubt!

It had to get a respray done. Thankfully a mate recommend a wee independant painter, cost me £140 to get the door done (blended) and it was a top job as well.

Ok heres what you do, go to the body shop and tell them you don't have alot of money, ask them if they will please try and wet sand out the scratches as best as they can.

I recently had our body shop take out some really deep scratches in a car. The problem is they don't want to do it caus they dont make as much money that way

I wonder if we could all chip in and pay for the work when something like this happens to one of us in the forum?

What a superbly thoughtful idea. Not sure it could ever happen but...

Regarding the damage to the OP's car...sympathy. It's a sad reflection on our society that there are those who just don't care or indeed go out of their way to be malicious. (Although my 80 year old father quotes many similar attitudes from his experiences as a young man).

I just noticed a nasty dint in a bizarre position near the boot, (rear passenger side). Couldn't think what had happened until I lined the bugger up with a shopping trolley handle tonight. Perfect match. Some careless tosser has swung his fecking trolley into the side of my car. Thanks mate.

So gutting mate, what an awful stomach churning feeling as you walk upto your car and see some selfish spineless bastard has done such a dispicable thing to your Pride and Joy.
Where was the car left to have someone do such a mindless thing?
