xDrive naming for 2009 models

I've noticed BMW making their model names longer again. So a 328xi is now a 328i xDrive coupe/sedan/wagon?

Anyone know what they're doing with the name badges on the car? Simply 328i, keeping 328xi, or 328i xDrive (god help us all if they put that across the trunk)

The badge on the back is only 328. The 'xDrive' appears on both sides above (or below) that small turn signal thing (don't know how you call it in the US).

Check here (difficult to notice due to the small image, but if you look hard enough, you can see it ):

I won't know for sure until my car arrives in a couple of weeks but I'm almost certain mine has 335i on the trunk and the xdrive badges on the front quarter panels. I'm definitely going to remove the xdrive badges (fugly IMHO). Since the sport package includes glossy shadow-line trim for 2009, I'm going to take off the silver 335i and replace it with a glossy black 335xi. To complete the look, I'm also going to swap out the silver grilles for Space Grey/matte black grilles.

I noticed they changed the name too. Has BMW changed the awd system in anyway?

My car is an 08 and i have read in multiple places that the 335xi/328xi is the xdrive awd system. So i believe they are basically just changing the badges. Can anyone confirm this?

The badge was 335xi/328xi until 2008. Now it's different, check my post above.

EDIT: here is a close-up:

It looks quite big but it really looks small when you are not standing too close.

The reason they changed the naming system, is that there is still a large number of people out there that dont know BMW makes all wheel drive cars. Thus, they add big Xdrive badges and they think people will now know. Since everybody knows what xdrive means.

It's definitely on the X6 which I saw a few weeks ago, so I would say yes.

Can't you guys order your BMW without the badges? Here in Germany it's possible. You just have to tick 'Without badges' (= Modellschriftzugentfall). No extra charge for that.

Can't do it when ordering the car, but some dealers will debadge it for you if you pay them extra.

I saw half a dozen 09 e90's at my dealership the other day with those badges on them and it does look fugly.

I can't imagine anyone will want to keep those on. They look out of place, like they aren't meant to be there.

Xdrive FTL, marketing idiots, they aren't gonna see a bump in sales of AWD.

I am gonna tell every person that the BMW AWD suspension is worse than an f'in pickup truck.

Stupid f'in BMW AWD suspension.

Seriously considering selling the car still, maybe BMW doesn't deserve my money for an M3
