Oil Change question - I already searched the archives!

Hi,

I noticed that the drain bolt washer that comes with the oil filter is not flat on both sides. One side gets thinner going towards the inner circle. I assumed that that side should face the oil pan and the flat side should face the bolt. Is that right? Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

-Max

me neither (and I have done oil change on e90 as well as e46). I will give it a more detail inspection next time I do an oil change. I do consider myself a very detail oriented person.
