Final visit.... End of warranty and free maintenance. Plus an extra G20 review
Everthing went well.... Car is in great condition.... That was 2 weeks ago... SA called about the one thing I want them fix my driver seat side bolster, it doesn't work pump died or broken.... So SA called said they have to keep the car until next month (Sept) 1st or 2nd week, the part has been ordered BUT there is not available in North America.... Shit coming from Germany (1 month to fix it)
I'm here driving this loaner G20 love it with the full digital cockpit... But who the he'll design this cockpit. Sport mode the tach changes and you can barely see the line on the RPM.... Anyone have the same experience as I am. Some things I like is the transmission programming... Sport mode can hit 8th gear on highway speed 65 mph and above. Base steering wheel is not bad at all, it is not thick like the F3x base. Thing I hate... The seat... It feel awkward in position. My F36 sport seat just fit me like a glove.

I had G20 loaner while my F30 was in service about a year ago. Despite its bigger size, I definitely felt it was a better daily. The B engine felt smoother and little less rattly and while I could see the digital cockpit's tacho being annoying due to its direction and the lack of ability to glance at it and see where it is, I thought overall the tech in the car made it for a better daily.
I actually thought the seats were very comfortable as well 0.0 My loaner was 330i with no M Sport pack.

I think the smoothness of the B48 is due to the transmission programming. |

Update...
1 month and I finally got my car back just to fix the driver seat side bolster. For the 1 month they have my car I'm happy they found something else to do and replace on my car. They found a tiny leak on the coolant lines on the turbo and they replace the line and other seals and did a coolant flush. Well that's according to the receipt that I got from the dealer. Wow... Damn i missed this car so much... That G20 loaner doesn't cut it.... I think it's probably the m-sport suspension which the G20 don't have and another thing is the ride height G20 vs my F36 m-sport and driving position. Btw... What's up with that ASD, so loud and trying to sound like a wrx. Last edited by Gen13 F36; 09-10-2020 at 10:51 AM.. |

I mentioned this problem to a Corporate BMW employee from Germany who did a ride along with me in the M850 at the M Town tour last year. She was floored that I liked the gauges in the X3 M better than the M340. Just looking at the new digital display, I think it looks pretty nice. Actually trying to get information from it quickly while driving...not so much.

I've had a G20 loaner twice. Both times got bored. Even my 328i F30 was more fun to drive. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe I'm just comfortable in the F cockpit. M340i was fun, fast, and quick at the autocross, and the auto was close to my F80 DCT. It just didn't feel raw enough.

How did you get your SA to do such a thorough end of warranty inspection? My factory warranty is up end of this year and I want to do the same before I transition to the CPO warranty.
