Mobil 1 0w-40 opinion

Probably been asked over 1000 times on here but what’s your guys opinion on still using M1 Euro 0w-40? Just bought some for my N52 and not sure if I should put it in or not. I assume it’ll be fine but is there something I’m missing? I know BMW said they not longer support this brand in 2015 but haven’t really seen a reasoning behind it(maybe personal?) but is anyone still running this and fine? Or should I take this back and get something else.

Good lord man, the car with the N52 has been out for 15 years and thousands of engine oil threads. BMW prefers you use BMW Spec LL-01 oil. But that assumes you are following BMW's condition based service system which generally has extended oil change intervals over 10,000 miles. If you are going to change the oil annually because the CBS does not call for an oil change before 12-months, or change the oil at a set low-mile interval such as 7,500 miles, any correct-weight SAE-rated "SM" oil, such as Mobil 1 will work fine.

There is no magic to using oil in an N52 if the CBS oil change system is not used as the maintenance system for the vehicle. Just follow the BMW viscosity spec and rating of SAE SM.

This is a dead-horse issue.

I have I 2009 328xi coupe and have only used Mobil 4 since I got it in 2012. Change the oil and filter every 7500 miles. No oil related issues with the car. I say go with it. (But hey - I also only use regular gas, so what do I know). It's only a car, don't overthink it.
