If so, are there any guides on how to do so? Album artwork/track names aren't updating and it seems I need to update to this NBT_i level. I have a 2014 335i

What music do you listen?
CD or MP3?
The database for CD covers and tracklist can be updated by the Gracenote database.
The covers for mp3 are included in the ID3 tag.

A complete update isn't possible by coding.
It is a bit more complicated.

I stream via Bluetooth or plug in via USB.

Right now my media is at 2.034.071 but it seems like the fix is in 2.255.060

I've used that site and entered my vin and updated with the files they gave me. I'm still at 2.034.071 for media and 2.034.070 for phone
