P0598 Thermostat heater control circuit low.

There's another out there on this code. My E93 is not displaying any symptoms other than a "check engine" light illuminated. Before I go ahead and buy a new thermostat and water pump. Is there anything external to the Thermostat that would cause this code? The thread I did find talked about the engine temp coolant sensor, the plug next to the oil filter housing assembly.
