Burning rubber smell and white smoke after changing plugs and ignition coils
Title says it pretty well. I switched the plugs and coils. It fired up, sounds great, and runs perfect. I got down the road and smelled burning rubber. Popped the hood and there's a small amount of white smoke coming from middle to rear ignition coil area. I drove straight home, popped the hood, and there was still smoke; although the smell wasn't as strong.
I used Bosch ignition coils and plugs. My car is a 2011 335i with an n55. Thank you for any help! |

Something dropped on the exhaust while you were working? Plug not torqued down properly? Wiring trapped against something hot?
I'd take the cover off and have a long hard look at everything you touched...
