Lots of codes...Not sure where to start

The car is a 2013 328i w/97k and no mods. It runs and drives like it always has. About a month ago the CEL came on and since I've got a little extra time, I finally got around to checking them on the Carly app. There's so many that i'm not sure where to start (if its even worthwhile to try or just trade it in...idk).
Here goes...

Engine has 12 issues
Fault Memory
CDA904 FA CAN message (status trailers, 0x2E4): missing
1D2404 Map controlled thermostat, control: line break
190302 Tank venting - and purge air micro leak: leakage greater than .5mm
Info Memory
INFO 21A416 Breakdown data storage: Group error
INFO 1D2402 Map-controlled thermostat, control: Short circuit to ground
INFO 152D08 Super knocking: Injection shutdown
INFO 152408 Super knocking cylinder: Injection shutdown
INFO 193208 Fuel level, plausibility deviation btw consumption & lvl change
INFO 193A20 Fuel level, collective error: signal and electrically
INFO 152308 Super knocking cylinder 4: Injection shutdown
INFO 118001 Mixture too lean
INFO 11CF30 Mixture ECU: Group error

Infotainment Fault Memory
E1C440 Reset/Monitoring circuit reset triggered
B7F8C6 Brightness reduction due to temperature exceeded

Central Electronics (BDC)
Fault Memory
030410 Multifunction steering wheel (MFL): lack of LIN slave
D90C0D LIN master E: no communication
Info Memory
INFO 804029 SEK battery undervoltage
INFO 80402B NVM_CRC_DEFAULT
INFO 804050 PIA_E_IO_ERROR

I guess a new battery and spark plugs to start off? Any guidance would be great!

You could start by charging it...if not, new battery would be a good bet to start off.

yep...original battery still. I'll pull it out, charge it, and try putting some miles on it. Carly does have battery registration I believe.

You don't need to remove battery from car to charge- connect charger to terminals in engine compartment.

Battery is 7 years old. Wow

I say you probably have a WEAK Battery. Seven years and 97k miles is great.
I usually get 5 1/2 years on a battery. Charging up your battery may not work but is worth a try. Weak batteries can give strange Fault Codes.

Best bet is to replace the battery and clear all faults. Your battery is done. I believe that the “Info faults“ can not be cleared by Carly. See where you wind up after this.

From the looks of it, you'll need a new battery, coolant thermostat which there is a warranty extension from BMW on the coolant thermostat for malfunction. And I would also have a software update performed.

Does it distinguish between active (permanent) codes and stored codes? I found a similar thing when I used BimmerLink on my car, but nearly all were in the past and not active. Only one code was active - for the MAP thermostat and I solved that and the car was good to go.

Some of the codes might be temporary (happened in past) and/or linked with each other, so maybe best to clear all the codes and see which ones would come again. Of course, first get battery charged, if not replaced since weak battery could cause a lot of false alarm codes...

It is virtually impossible that from properly working car suddenly you get so many issues.

What did you do for the MAP thermostat?

I charged the battery and cleared the codes. ...but the CEL returned w/less codes. There are 2 engine codes still (outside the info codes)
CDA904 FA CAN message (status trailers, 0X2E4) missing
1D2404 Map-controlled thermostat, control: line break
I also still get the batter undervoltage code.
I took the car to AutoZone and they tested both the battery and alternator and said they were both were fine. I also charged the battery (it was at 89%).

Does anyone know how long bmw extended the warranty for that thermostat for?

Not that I don't trust Autozone, but depending on how they tested your battery, they may not have tested it so well. Did they load test it?

A battery can show decent voltage but not have the amps.

Your therm code 'may' indicate a 'line' outside of the therm...which may have to do with what's 'missing' from the code above. Not sure what the FA CAN is exactly, but I'd 'guess' it's a 'forward area' network...so if it's got an issue, it might not signal the therm . All speculation before you 'maybe' buy a new therm for no reason...not saying you don't need one, though. Warranty was 4 years/50K miles (I thought).

Well, the battery is back down to 67% when I put the charger on it. So, it appears I’ll make a trip to p/u a new battery. Crazy how it’s bad and the car cranks perfectly fine.
Any chance that resolves the other codes?

Yup! Your battery is "toast"! Autozone either didn't load test the battery or didn't know what they were doing>

Wow. I am only starting to realize how important a good battery is on these cars. This forum is great for stuff like this. It's good to see higher mileage BMW's on here. It seems most owners turn them in after 40-50k.

It appears this is exactly what was needed to solve the CEL.

Having had BMWs for many years, I now change the battery as soo as it reaches 6 years, if it gets there. Ok it’s a big expense but you will likely also need to change the thermostat on the F30 around this time too, so my suggestion is always to read your codes and decide what is easy about to do yourself, such as registering the battery and changing the thermostat and so forth.
