Bmw 335d blowby?

Is this normal, gets worse when it's warm, diesels are supposed to have Blowby like this, not enough to float the cap , but still it's a smoke or oil burning, debating if I should put a catch can on it from the vortex to the intake boot.

Yes I believe that's normal, due to being a diesel and high compression, plus the injector type, or something along those lines.
I heard it's not recommended to take the cap off while the engine is running, apologies I cannot remember why.

It's fine to take the cap off because it's just blowby not in a vacuum that can make the engine throttle up.

Diesel engines when you remove the oil cap do not do this unless it has a stuck lifter or massive bypass of the rings aka Blowby. Just curious...
I had a 7.3 ford I had to rebuild do to Blowby but the Blowby this car has doesn't rock the oil cap like a tea kettle going off

Normal and mine does the same, but maybe just a little more. She's got about 191,000 miles.

Anyone thought of putting a catch can setup for it? Just to prevent the buildup?

I have seen some but my question is does it trigger a SEL when it's bypassed with a catch can?

Lots on catch cans but as a follower of this forum I'd say the enthusiasm and excitement over catch cans has settled down quite a bit in recent years.

I've noticed, just worried me as I'm at 140,000 or so miles and it's deleted but I still have carbon build up codes for cylinder 2 and wanted to do a catch can as well as see if I can save a buck and use some liquid moly diesel intake cleaner when it's back in stock here in Texas.

Lots on the forum here about CBU mitigation using walnut shells (head) and soaking (manifold). Andrew Rodriguez has videos about manifold removal. Cost of walnut shell blasting seems to range from $400 to over $1,800 and don't even ask the dealer. EGR blocking seems to be the best prophylactic treatment out there.
