Question about window trim installation

Hi, everyone. I just swapped out my chrome window trim with matte black shadowline trim using some very helpful posts: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1374521 and https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=120573.

I might try to spray paint my old Chrome trim gloss black and put it back on to see if it looks better, but can't seem to reconnect the chrome aluminum piece with the rubber insert. Can this even be done?

Thanks, IK6SPEED. Great resource! Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about reconnecting the insert, just adding the entire strip back to the car. Not sure if it's possible.

It makes it seem to say that the special tool listed is needed, though it doesn't get into detail.
