Valve cover gasket leak FMIC
I’ve had a valve cover gasket leak for a bit now. No codes nothing just occasionally smokes a little for the first 5 minutes of driving then goes away. Don’t really have 1200$ to go get it replaced right now lol it’s a n20 58k miles. Also does anyone no if a vrsf FMIC will fit in a stock bumper or would I have to go to a m sport bumper for it to fit ? Thanks

My E93 had this. I felt the same way but mine had 130k when it started. I kept it for about 140k and it got so bad I traded it in on an F33.
Mine was dripping on the catalytic converter so since I run a bodyshop, we took an old exhaust heat shield and mounted it so the oil would drip on the heat shield and not the cat. Definitely helped until the leak got real bad. |

Is the valve cover $1200, or is that the cost installed by a shop? I heard that the b58 has the ccv/pcv incorporated into the cover and you 'do' need to replace it, but I'm sure there are some hacks...and then it's just a few hours and a few bucks for the gasket.
If you haven't done a valve cover, it's straightforward.

Replace the VCG- BMW is mandated by govt regulations to use certain percentage of biodegradable materials in the cars, their gaskets are practically made from soybeans and known to degrade earlier compared to most other manufacturers

- yes, the VRSF intercooler for F30 will fit a non-M Sport bumper.
- your engine already has a built in metal tray to prevent oil seeping from valve cover gasket to drip onto exhaust. Look closer, it's there on the N20. Not positive about other F30 engines. |

I'm guessing that's parts and labor at the dealership. If you're up for it, you could DIY it and save a boatload.
OP, it seems like you're thrashing your car (based on your other posts). Not sure what your goal is for your car, or how long you plan to keep it, but it doesn't sound like it's gonna last much longer without you taking care of some things. Did you get your flash tune issue worked out? Honestly, if I were you, I'd stop throwing "go fast parts" at it and take care of the maintenance issues. It makes no sense that you're willing to spend money on FBO parts but not on fixing problems. My humble suggestion: don't buy the FMIC, save the $ and fix your car first. Otherwise, you increase the likelihood of killing your car, and having wasted money on all these aftermarket parts. Get your car sorted.
