I expect someone will have a better idea by my guess is that if it doesn't reach anything to plug into could be that the same wiring loom is made for all models and yours doesn't have the engine/ component that that would plug into ?

It’s just a plastic holder of some sort, not a plug.

Anyone with an N29 willing to pop their hood and see where that cable goes/ if it’s there/ or if it’s also just loose.

To add* the car did have its harness replaced due to rats having a dinner party in there so could be as a previous poster mentioned, a generic plug for other electronics I may not have.

Are you having any issues with the car? Any codes, etc? Performance unchanged?

Makes more sense now, was the wiring replaced by bmw? If not i expect a loom that was fitted was from another model which had those extra plugs

Yes it was done under warranty, perhaps still from another vehicle?

Looks like yours just has one cable going into the plug, is this correct? If so, then must be a harness with extra plugs.

Haven't had any errors, but before it was replaced, after rats had been in there, I had a drivetrain error come up quite occasionally and the car went into limp mode. Dealer quoted around R30k to fix ($1600) but insurance luckily took care of it.

I would imagine so. And should be showing a fault code if it was supposed to be plugged in, could take it back to the dealer that done it and ask them?

Thanks all for the replies, seems like it is just a newer harness, possibly generic through the N series/B series engines
