Ever since late December or early January I've been having an issue with Spotify using Bluetooth from an iPhone. The tracks will play fine, but the album artwork and track title will be stuck on the first song played on the idrive screen and dashboard. I just tried updating the idrive to the latest firmware and uninstalling/reinstalling the Spotify app on my phone and it hasn't fixed the problem. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. For reference the model year of my car is 2014.

Try updating your phone!! I know it sounds crazy but mine kept doing that to the point where it wouldn't even show an album ever with spotify. After an update they'd always come up.

I'm running the latest software date on all 3 devices on my 2014 335i

iPhone XS: iOS 13.4 downloaded today
Spotify version 8.5.51.877
Idrive software update UPD05074


Can you share what your software version you are running that fixed the issue?

i am in the same boat here... my 12' 335i was great but my 16 340i lags behind when changing tracks

Happens with me sometimes, switching to radio and then back to multimedia using the mode button on the steering fixes it.

I've tried deleting the Spotify cache, re-installing it on my iphone, and also reconfiguring the Bluetooth car connection, and still have issues.

I read somewhere that update UPD05081 may fix the problem but I can't download it. Using my vin the bmw software says UPD05074 is the latest version available. It's been suggested that bmw software updates are far behind what's actually available for your car.

Can anyone confirm for a f30 MY 2014 running this update fix the issue? If someone can link a file for UPD05081 I can try myself.

Even though the bmw software website said UPD05074 is the latest version for my car, I went to car gurus and found 2015 335i's and copied the vin number and got the UPD05081 update. This did not fix my problem where Spotify will only display the meta data of the first track of the first song played via Bluetooth streaming from my iPhone. Anyone else have this problem or got this problem fixed on their pre lci?

Sometimes it shows up the song on the car but it plays via phone speakers and Spotify does not show the car in available speakers/devices, in that case I make a call to myself and the car uses phone audio, when I disconnect the music starts playing through the car speakers. Not sure if that will help.
