Exhaust Louder in D than DS?
Hey all,
Seeing as how driving aimlessly provides the only reprieve from the lockdown here in the US and it has warmed up recently, I have been making good use of the 335i E93. It seems like I am in the majority of people here who vastly prefer driving in DS over the standard D. However, I would swear that my exhaust seems quieter while in DS than in D. Are my ears playing tricks on me or is the exhaust designed this way, and if so, why? I would assume that it should be LOUDER in DS. |

Try downloading one of the "DB meter" apps for your phone and then run the car in both that will tell you the truth of which one is louder.
BTW I rarely drive my cars in DS mode because the transmissions are just not comfortable in that setting to me. |

Is your exhaust stock?
The DS mode keeps the engine RPM higher so it likely has less load and less drone like in D where it lugs the engine more at lower RPM.

Nothing with the exhaust changes in D vs DS. Gearing/shift points/RPMs will be different, but the exhaust doesn't change like it does in newer model BMW's.
