to fix or not
my car has a small rust bubble at the bottom of the right rear fender panel , between the fender and the rear door , the bubble is at the edge of the wheel well. Not too noticeable from far, the size of the nail of my pinky .
I noticed it last year and I even made a thread about it. This year is still the same size and it hasnt eating through the paint . Anyways I went to a bodyshop last year and they quoted me 1000$ to fix it . I was like f that , so I just left it . Fast forward to this year , my dad bought a used blue civic that had some damage on the doors and hood. My brother found a bodyshop recommended by one of his mechanics , he had the door , hood and fender replaced. The results were actually very good , colour matching was spot on , couldnt tell the difference and the price was very very good Anyways my brother is getting some work done for his audi A4 there ( waiting for results ) . I went there today to get a quote to get the small rust bubble fix , he quoted me 350 $ to fix it , that includes colour matching and repainting of the rear panel. 350$ is actually doable but I m having second thoughts if white paint is harder to match ?? ... He did a great job with the civic though ... Should I leave it or go for it? |

It look's pretty minor to me, but everyone's tolerance for perfection is different. I don't have much input other than some body shops are out for insurance claims and simple OE part swaps and others are into more detail work so be careful and shop around.
GL with whichever route you choose. |

I'd say get it fixed if you plan to keep the car for any amount of time. It may be slowly deteriorating now, but in my experience it can reach a point where it spreads quickly and costs run up.
Rust may be inevitable based on where you live, but I'd also be looking into fixing potential source problems, which could be seals, drain holes/lines, missing underbody panels, etc.
