Undercarriage Nut Size Part 2 - The Answer

Since the thread was closed and the OP thought his question went unanswered, I'll try to clarify for him. So it ended up the OP was asking for the thread size of the corresponding nut that BMW uses to affix undercarriage parts to the chassis where there is a stud protruding from the floor pan.

There is no thread size for the nut. The nut is plastic. The stud thread is akin to a course wood screw thread. There is no specific thread size (i.e. diameter x thread-count) of the corresponding nut that threads on to the stud. The plastic nut is thread-less and the threads are formed into the pliable plastic as the nut is turned on the stud. The only spec for the thread would be the diameter of the stud with no thread-count or thread pitch specified.

So all in all, several Posters to the OP's Thread, gave him the correct answer with specific P/N to reference. The OP failed to recognize he was given the answer (several times) because he didn't understand what he was asking for.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

+1 (NOT from Bali )

"Self-tapping" plastic nut with no stated ID or thread pitch, exactly as described by "F30". Item #7 in this RealOEM page:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_6216

AND YES, an 8mm socket turns the nut just fine, just like the 8mm-head diameter screws that hold the Splash shields.

BTW, "F30" has his own LIFT and has been under his vehicle several hundred times. NO-WAY I'm going to claim to know more than he does about what's underneath an E9x.

Now that the answer is clear as day, we can finally put this behind us.
