Any solutions to leaking oil filler cap?

Hello all! I've replaced my oil filler cap twice and it's still leaking . Stumbled on a new style oem cap that fcp says it will fit my car . Was wondering if this "new" design has a better seal than the original one or if there is any other better solution? I'll attach the link to the cap! Thanks in advance !

Check the sealing surface on the valve cover. Also, you might be building up too much pressure inside the valve cover.

Would that be due to a bad/clogged PCV valve?

OP, how many oil caps are you going to replace until you realize that's not going to stop the leaking?

Seems like having a dipstick would also be good for allowing excessive pressure to escape if your PCV malfunctioned. Rather than put pressure on crank seals

Maybe I'll buy one more and make it a whopping 3 caps

Hey ,

I looked into those a bit too , but some people complained and got worried about oil expelling out of that filter into the engine bay. Some people for some reason take the gasket out of the oem cap clean it with brake cleaner then reverse the gasket when installing and have no leaks I think I might try it before I buy another cap .

Hey,

Did you buy the Vargas style cap or the newer designed OEM cap?

Just curious if that valve would work on a NA engine?

assuming it has a check valve in it to keep it from becoming a giant vacuum leak I see no reason why not.

but really if your engine is making that much crankcase pressure and it's not a big baller high boost turbo car you should probably find out why.

It was more of a curiosity.
I'm not about to rip out my existing system (though it would cut down on some fire hazards) it is working fine. There would be at least 3 hoses that would need to be capped off if I replaced it with this thingamajig.

It certainly would simplify the whole external system the magnesium valve cover early N52s got.

Just bought the newer designed cap as well and so far no leaks. Only had it for a couple weeks though.
