strange problem

long story short i recently had some repair work done to my car, that being said:

i had the bottom part of the seat replaced on passenger side.

i now have two NEW issues. "passenger restraint system malfunction" keeps appearing

and my rear tailgate does not open, with the key or with the button by the driver OR the button on the tailgate itself.

any ideas?

thanks

The first usually happens when the seat is removed without first disconnecting the battery negative terminal. It requires a reset. The second logically I'd say a fuse, but it's hard to imagine how working on the seat blew the tailgate fuse.

Garage List
Try resetting the seat position yourself

It's not the seat position that needs resetting. If the seat was removed without first disconnecting the battery negative iDrive assumes that the airbag has been deployed or removed. IDrive needs to be reset so it knows that the airbag is functional. That requires an OBD tool.
