Good Pastrami Place in the OC?

Hey guys,

does anyone have any suggestions for a good pastrami place? When I lived in San Dimas near Glendora, I always went to The Hat. That place is the shit. The closest one to me is in Brea though.

So, any recommendations?

Why would you want to come all the way down to OC for a sandwich?

Anyone here tried Earl of Sandwich? It's a refreshing change from Subway and Quizno's.

Anyway, I won't be eating sandwiches made out of ham or sausages in Canada because there's a huge recall of meats now. 15 people died just lately because of the meats.

There's a 'Hat' (or a 'The Hat?') in Lake Forest, not that far away from Huntington Beach. Whenever I'm around I make sure to eat there. Also, off topic but Lake Forest has a Tommy's, chili cheese fries ftw.

The Hat in Lake Forest...grease and all...yummm

If you are into the Pastrami on Rye routine...Jerry's Deli in Costa Mesa (add Matza Ball soup for extra yummm)

I must be hungry this morning....

Check this place out. Tommy's in HB. I drive by the place all the time but never had a chance to check it out. Should be good if they have pastrami in the name. Worst case you're out $5.

Use Yelp.com and chowhound.com FTW. I like The Hat too, but it's a heart attack waiting to happen. Tommy Pastrami gets decent reviews from New Yorkers but it's a different style of a pastrami sandwich. I honestly prefer the Hat to authentic pastrami on rye.

There is also The Hat in Brea which is just off the 57.

Have you ever tried Benji's in Tustin? I'm not 100% sure if its still there but a very great Deli! Corner of 17th & Tustin Ave I believe.

+1

Tommy Pastrami

The one I've frequented is in Irvine by the Spectrum.

All around solid. Waiting for the east coast transplants to chime in with, "you can't find a good deli in California" just like the "you can't find good pizza in California"...
