Sony VAIO FW...

my uncle is going to buy one from best buy tomorrow...its on sale ($250 off)

what do you think of this computer (in general, as well as in terms of its price...i think $899 + tax is decent)

scratch that...i think $899 is and EXCELLENT price for this laptop considering its a vaio

it's a good price but a 16.4" WXGA LCD widescreen display isnt very portable.....plus vista sucks. Plan on spending a couple hours uninstalling all that junk

I bought a macbook with my student discount and got a free touch with it. I sold the touch on craigslist so i considered that a discount from the comp. It comes to about the same price but it's your call.

That laptop os a good deal if you plan on just having it sit at your desk!!!

I love macs but the only apple laptop i like is the macbook pro...im not quite ready to spend $3000 on a laptop with the same specs as the vaio...depending on the input i get from here/other forums i might pick one up with my uncle tomorrow too...i really thought that the price was exceptional especially after searching online and being unable to find any prices that match...

in regards to vista...is it a good idea to downgrade to xp or should i just stick it out with vista?

Sony are usually as expensive as mac laptops so this is a pretty good deal.. Is it an older model?

nope! thats the best part...it came out less than 2 months ago...i was just looking over BB's website and this thing has HDMI output...im 100% sold...this is mine tomorrow morning

Haha congrats.. If it has an intel CPU you can get a cracked version of OSX leopard on it loll (wouldn't recommend it though)

I like VAIOs. I've been using a VAIO SZ for the past 3 years and my replacement blu-ray equipped VAIO Z should arrive on my doorstep Tuesday. I've never had any experience with the FW series but after a decade of dead dells and gateways, I'd say that it was worth it.

My only problems have been that the sucker runs hot (it never cuts off due to overheating, but damn it's hot) and that my headphone jack is loose and cuts off because of it. Apparently, it was a SZ only problem that was common enough for them to pay attention to fixing.

As far as getting the job done and reliability though, best laptop i've ever owned.

Thats really weird that they labeled them all the same... I only asked because I saw another arrow edition with the same 1 of 550 tag on it, figured I would be fair and ask you haha.

The weird thing is, Sony started out wanting their laptops to be similar in design and style to MacBooks at the time (1997); last year, Apple hired a bunch of Sony designers away to work on the new MacBook Air and re-invigorate their designs.

Myself, I've never owned a desktop, as I've never wanted to commit that much space to a computer, so I've had only laptops. I tend to alternate between Sony and IBM, and I went from an IBM X31 to a Sony TZ150 earlier this year.

I can't decide whether to get a Mac or Sony next... never had a mac but started to like them, and they are pretty stable... I really like sony too.....
...Just like I also can't decide what rims I wanna get, whether I want a white lip or a chrome lip (on matte black)...
I can't even decide if I wanna be single or stay in the relationship I am currently in...
I can't decide how much I wanna spend on a new DSLR cuz I donno if it's just a passing interest, if i will ever learn to use the more advanced features of the better cams (I'm still an amateur), etc..
I also can't decide if I wanna pay off my big credit card bill just yet or buy any of those things ^^^
damn, I'm not getting anywhere!
