I need word and I'm not down to spend 200 on that software. Is there a way to download it?

or if you are a student (or your kid is in school), ask them to buy it for you with school discount $15-$20 (I think). What if you run like bootcamp, would the windows version comes with word? Just some thoughts...

Screw macs. When I heard that they tried to sue the company that made a cloned mac, I knew my dislike of their computers was spot on.

There is no reason you shouldn't be allowed to build your own mac in the year 2008.

But torrents or limewire are the OP's best bet.

That is because the clone company took OS X and modified it which broke copyright laws. Apple is in the right with the lawsuit. If Pystar wanted to run OS X and they thought Apple locking the OS to their computers was illegal then they should of sued Apple( which they are countersuing for now) before breaking the law themselves.

PS: I support Apple as well locking OS X to their computers. They work almost seamlessly and flawlessly. Windows has to be bloated to hell to work for every hardware configuration out there. Apple control the hardware so they can keep the bloat down and make sure things work right. Also, I don't believe Apple is doing anything wrong by locking OS X to Macs. The computer and OS X are marketed together so it can be said the hardware and OS are one product. Just like how you can't install the iPhone's OS onto a blackberry, Nokia, etc and vice versa. Plus, it is similar as to their are exclusive 360 games, PS3 games, and Wii games, etc. Apple is doing nothing wrong having OS X only be available on their own hardware. After all Apple is a hardware company first and foremost. Just Apple writes their own software that goes with the hardware.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Mac.

Are you sure you need Word? There are plenty of open source, Word-compatible word processors out there.

NeoOffice is one of the better options. http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php

As mentioned, there is also the Student/Teacher MS Office that is not expensive if you qualify.

Other option is Openoffice.org It's a freeware program that reads, edits, creates all office compatible files.

I use it on my mac.

Do the terms theft, stealing, robbery mean anything to you?

There are alternatives out there that are free. Why steal something?

The lack of basic morality of many members of this forum astounds me.

+1. Don't steal!

Go to openoffice.org and d/l the suite. It's just as good as MS Office and you can open/save files in .doc, .xls, and .ppt format.

Open Source FTW!

Morality is a pretty deep subject that is often time subject to conditional terms. Are you really sure you want to start debating it over a pirated copy of MS Word? I personally would hold off until a more substantial thread was started.
