I think keyless is the main form of theft and tbh if you haven't got it then a disclok or Stoplock will cure 99% of theft risk. Yes, it can be taken but they are mainly just going for the easy wins theft wise.

I do think if I lived in Birmingham or Leeds I would have a Pandora Light Pro or Mini BT fitted to add to the anti theft measures I do have.

The motion sensor in keys was added from around March 2018. If you have a car before then, key fobs can be bought and programmed from BMW. Had mine done and it cost £172. Peanuts on a £50k car.

You may get the runaround from the service advisor or receptionist, but persevere, ask to speak to their master technician - and get them to Goole if necessary.

Easy to test - leave the key on a chair next to the drivers door.
Wait 5 to 10 minutes.
Without disturbing the key, try the comfort access on the door.

I did this test and my key didn't work. Had to nudge it (motion) for it to "wake up" again.
My car was built Sept '18, delivered October '18 (MY19).
