50i Owners w/ Air Suspension, does your...
...suspension sound a bit "rattle-y" when going on lower speeds? Mainly 35-40mph and under? I'm wondering if the sounds the suspension makes when going over small bumps at lower speeds is normal. It's a bit hard to describe but it has more of a reverberation sound to me. I want to use the word "rattle" sensitively here as i'm not claiming things are loose but it just doesn't sound stiff and tight. Most cars you would give a quick thump feedback and thats it, but this sounds carries a bit longer than one quick thump.
I've had air suspension in two past cars (Porsche/Audi) but never encountered this noise problem so wasn't sure if it's a BMW thing since I know the introduction to air suspension is new in the X5. Or at least I think it is. Any feedback from air suspension owners would be great. And this happens in any driving mode so comfort, sport, sport plus, etc. Thanks P.S. Sorry if I butchered the description of the sound. |

I've got air suspension on my 50i and haven't noted any rattle type sounds at low speeds and I'm 3K miles in.
I do find the air suspension on my wife's XC90 a little more 'airy/floaty'. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.

I think depending on the make and model, air suspensions feel different. I'm coming from a 2017 Q7 with air and it was definitely softer even on dynamic mode. It just comes down to that fact that the X5 is a sportier SUV/SAV than say a Volvo or the current Q7. I like the stiffer air ride and control vs the lofty/airy feel.
