Navigation map freezes / returns to current position moments later

Vehicle: 2017 BMW 440i Gran Coupe.

Symptoms (intermittent, no consistent pattern):
- Navigation is active / directing to an address
- Map is moving and then stops
- Map starts moving again (snaps to the current position) a few seconds later

During the first visit to the dealer, two items were identified:
- HU-H fault code
- SI B65 09 15

The vehicle was reprogrammed but the problem persists.

During the second visit to the dealer, nothing out of the norm was reported. No codes. I plan to scan for codes myself when the vehicle is ready.

I called BMW NA and they suggested field representative to visit the dealer. I sense this will be a long journey.

After researching similar symptoms, failing hard drive inside the NBT head unit seems to be the culprit.

Did anyone encounter a similar problem?

Sharing an update.

The car has been at the dealer for a week. No progress in finding the root cause. The only logical conclusion is the likelihood of hard drive inside head unit intermittently failing - hence maps freezing.

Sharing an update. The dealer could not find any problems. No faults. Very unusual. This is 2nd time the dealer is trying to diagnose this issue.
