Help me pick next tires...

328i, RWD, sport, 6spd, never tracked, just a DD car.
Normal highway and city driving, and with some back road twisty's throw in every now and again.
I've had my car for 8-9 years, and have always run summer performance tires on my car during most of the year (switch the snow tires during winter)

I have run Hankook Ventus v12 Evo2's for the last few years.
I like the Hankooks, but the rear tires wear pretty quick, 12,000 miles or so if you're lucky.

My rears are shot again and I need to replace.
My fronts are still good, with 60% tread left or so I would imagine.

I do not "need" summer performance tires at all, i do like their driving characteristics but would consider trading off to an all-season with similar driving feel.

I do NOT care about snow/ice traction.
I DO care about wet traction.
I midly care about tread life, and this is where I would be willing to make a trade off I believe - longer tread life for a "not as good" handling tire...

I know the Hankook V12's are a "OLD" tire with old technology...

Looking spend about the same $$ on whatever tires I go with.
What do you recommend I go with?

I got the General G-max RS and I’m very happy with them. Had PSS before and can barely tell the difference as I don’t really push the car. Basically 90% of the performance for half the price, great bang for buck.

continental xtremecontact tires are roughly equivalent to hankook evos. The hankook evos are my go-to though

I had those on my Z4M, they wore out pretty quickly although in fairness I spent a fair amount of time bending into turns with a bit of vigor.

Currently using Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on my 335, prior 2 sets were PSSs after replacing the OEM RFTs. Whichever brand (Conti, Michelin, etc.) you go with are good. Just depends on your budget.

I love my Continental Extreme contact sports. I went through tail of the dragon after a light rain, and the tires stuck like glue.

I agree, they're great in the rain. Until the tread is gone!

I will admit... before I switched to the Hankook V12's, i was also considering the Continental DW and DWS tires... obviously one being all summer, and one being all-season.

I still really like the Conti tires... I think they have released new versions of the DW and DWS tires?

I'm torn because, I could just replace my rear 2 Hankooks with 2 new Hankooks and then worry about all this again in 2-3 years when I need to replace all 4 tires.

If I switch tires/brand, I won't get all the tread out of my front 2 unless i sell them or something.
I'd really have to mis-match tires front to rear...
I would never switch to all seasons in the rear and leave my summers on the front, I would replace all 4 at that point.

Continental DWS is a shockingly good street tire for the money. Out 10k miles on my and they’re barely worn.

To the comment above about wet traction - no tire is good in the rain with zero tread. Not sure what that comment is getting at...

What is the new version of the DWS?
I see the “sport” tire is the new replacement for the DW.

DWS tread does last a hell of a lot longer than DW from the reviews I’ve red over the tears, both gratvtires and DWS one of the better all season. That was one tire I had considered before when debating between summers vs all seasons

They will last 50,000 miles if you rotate them religiously and don't drive in a spirited manner. Otherwise, count on around 37-38,000 miles.

They are a compromise between cornering and lasting a little longer, if you are having the same conversation about Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+.

If you aren't interested in a premium All-season, then get an all-season that is V rated and you will achieve the same premise.

In my experience they didn't last very long (DW full summer tires).

Do you think the dws 06 and ps as3 are the highest performance all season?
I highly doubt I would notice a large difference with my driving style switching from a summer performance tire....
I supposed I need to do some research on the 06... I do like a good handling tire on a backroad. To me so far the hankooks have been the best tire I’ve run on my e90

The DWS 06 & the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ are definitely the very best All-season performance tires money can buy for the e90.

If you are coming from a summer tire, then yes you will lose corning ability with an all season tire but gain longevity.

Just save the money now and get 2 new tires, check out if Hankook had a mileage warranty like Michelin does and get a little discount on a new rear set.

I'm in the same boat now only it's time for my fronts, I've always gone through 2 rears with only 1 set of fronts so I'll just do the same with 2 new front P4S's

I’ve had both the new DWS 06 and the original DWS. Older ones were more comfortable and the newer ones are sportier.

Overall amazing tire for the money. Agree Mweiss on longevity.

I would NOT get the DWS06.
Had the old version on a 135i and new version on current 328i.
Compared to Michelin AS3, they are softer, more greasy, and slow the response of the car.

I am VERY dissatisfied overall, was especially when they were new, because they made my car go from feeling like it was laser-sharp, to dull and floaty.

BIGGEST POINTS:
There is a significant delay between steering input and response from the car that DID NOT EXIST with the AS3.

They are very easy to "overdrive", and do not handle pushing the car hard at all.

They have SOFT sidewalls and soft tread.
Good for comfort/traction, longevity, sure.

Terrible for sportiness, sharpness. Can't wait till they wear out, which, to their credit, is taking forever.

The DWS06 are significantly softer than the A/S3. The A/S3 are a bit noisy, but is the most summer like if the all season variety. On bigger power cars, like my 1er, they wear out really fast as they don't have the grip and spin all the time, my MPSS last much much longer on that car. On my 328, and old Civic, they last a long time.

I just put the DWS06s on my 328i, they are fine for a daily. Ride nice on the crap roads we have here.

Pilot AS3+ is supposedly better handling at the expense of noise and comfort (also slightly more $). But you would have to be driving pretty close to the limit to notice much of a difference IMO.
