First blown chargepipe from a stock engine that I’ve seen reported. How many miles on your car?

ER seems to be the replacement I’ve seen mentioned most on these forums.

Just did the ER pipe. There are lower cost options, but I've read a few fitting issues in other cheaper pipes. I would buy the ER again. Bought from Mike with x-ph.

What?

Plenty of stock F3x cars have blown CP even with no tunes.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for those and haven’t seen any since I’m bone stock and have been wondering about my risk. Seems like every time there’s a tune or some other mod involved when somebody posts about losing their CP. I’m categorizing MPPK as a mod, though.

If you can point me to posts involving stock configs I’ll check them out.

The N54 & N55 have always had a risk due to it mounting to the front intercooler and the intake (intercooler is fixed, engine rocks under load).

Its most likely directly related to how quickly the engine snaps to one side when you accelerate. Adding mods/tunes just increases the risk.

That being said, I had a Dinan S2 tune on my 2008 BMW, drove it for 8 years, and had no issues. But then I wasn't as hard on it from a dead stop, so it probably has a lot to do with driving style as well.

Wow. Blown charge pipe at 30K is a first. Hopefully, the charge pipe residue wasn't ingested.

Another vote for ER charge pipe.

Please update this thread once the replacement has been done.

My charge pipe blew a month ago on my '16 ZHP with the stock tune. The car has 35k miles. I was checking out the drive modes and had it in sport and launched it from a red light. POP!

This was fixed with b58 with intercooler no longer being fixed in place but mounted to the engine.

Yeh, sorry didn't mention that as the OP had a 335. Much more robust design on the Bxx platform vs the Nxx platform.

Not gonna dig up posts for you but it's well known, even on stock 'tune' the plastic charge pipe is prone to failure. Obviously just more likely with tune because of increased boost.

I wouldn't worry about it though, especially if you're stock. Can't hurt though if you want piece of mind, but not a big deal if it goes just puts you in limp mode. Should be the first mod you get before/in tandem with tune though.

Anyone know if the turbo to ic pipe has any known issues. I just did the ic to TB because it cracked with 44k miles stock tune!

Nope, everything I've read and seen suggests that one isn't prone to the same issues fortunately!
