Prompted me to have a look on the configurator but, despite supposedly being available from launch, I can't see the M340i? However, if I read correctly a 330d X-Drive M-Sport Plus Edition has a list price of over £48k and I'd have thought an M340i is likely to be more expensive than one of those; with options I can definitely see a list price nudging £55k....
ETA: Just spotted on the website that the M340i is advertised as "coming soon" which infers it won't be available from launch after all! Last edited by JNW1; 06-19-2019 at 05:18 PM.. |

I was talking to a dealer yesterday and he told me they were looking at ordering a launch 340i and they were shocked to spec it to £60k. He said there won’t be much discount and a high APR on finance so unlikely to be a big seller initially.

Initially there appears to be three different derivatives you can select from; one that doesn't have a name , Sport and M-Sport. However, the first one (which I assume is the base models as they have the lowest price) appears to include 320d SE variants only - no petrol versions at all, never mind the M340i! The Sport and M-Sport derivatives both include petrol models but only variations on the 330i - again no M340i that I can see? |

Hmm, that's much as I feared and on that basis I won't be an early adopter; probably a case of sitting on my hands for a year and hoping some F31 levels of discount start to appear by mid-2020!

Congratulations, that'll be a lovely car.
Just spec'd up a 340i to the same as my 540i (although I could only spec the G20 not G21) and it would cost an additional £550p/m on PCP over the 540i which is ridiculous. Not helped by no discount and a silly 7.9% APR but even so TRL will have his work cut out discounting and shifting lots of those. |

The internet brokers are the ones who broker a good discount through the corporate side of the BMW dealer. The showroom salesmen rarely offer good discounts off a new model. |

As you say that's ridiculous and, I'd venture to suggest, not sustainable if they want to sell many (any?) M340i's! |

Dealers are full of crap in my experience. Before long they'll be cheerfully knocking these out at 20-25% below list, just like every other BMW. |

Not sure on discount as it’s a business lease with Lex autolease. I did not do the figures per say I left it to my accountant as it will be my wife’s business car.

we all know it's going to follow the same pattern. New 3er high apr and little discount to get a few early adopters. Then gradually normality kicks in with discounts and low/reasonable APRs. The m340 may stay a bit higher but I'm sure it will still see 15 to 20% discounts at some point. Just hope it hits peak discounting in May/June next year for the touring m340! |
