Euro delivery

Probably a stupid question but is this an option?
Would really like to do a ED next year when my M4 lease is up and the M40i is pretty tempting since I loved my wife's 2013 Z4 and was bummed when she replaced it with a M235 (since replaced with a M240)

Yep, I pick up my car via Euro Delivery in Munich on July 9th. Very much an option!

Around $3,600, and I got an extra $1,500 off with my dealer.

Just something for my own knowledge but how do folks arrange the car to be shipped from Munich once you have collected it back to your home country (say USA in this example).

Is the price for this shipping already included or do you have to pay extra for it? Is it costly?

Thanks

They were going to ship the car from Germany to the US/Canada anyways, so there's no additional cost. Think of Euro Delivery as a temporary delay between the car being built, and it being shipped. Once you finish your trip, you drop the vehicle off at one of the BMW collection points, and they take it from there!

For the US, ED includes shipping to either your dealer, or the Performance Center. There are like 6 places throughout EU to drop off (some have costs associated with it though).

If you go in winter months you have to rent rims and snow tires to be legal in Germany. I researched that as my M4 build which was initially supposed to be ED, got pushed out to November. At that point I cancelled ED and had it shipped which took 2 months (build finish to dealer delivery) to the west coast.

Good to know, when did you order it? Also I really do not like the standard colors, was there an option for an individual build? I did that on my M4 and I LOVE having a totally unique car.

Shipping is slow, 2 months to the west coast, my ship stopped in Galveston so that would have shaved 3 weeks or so off the trip. The bad thing about ED is US Customs. They treat it as a used car. A buddy had his sit in customs for 3 weeks. Mine OTOH was 3 days dock to dealer.

I started the order process in April, but they weren't making 2020 Z4s yet, nor did they have frozen grey paint yet (they used it all up for 2019s, and didn't have it in stock). So it went into production around June 9th finally! I've heard you can get unique colors, but it would likely cost a lot more. Talk to your dealer if you're serious about it!

Yeah, I don't mind on shipping. I'm actually stationed with the Air Force over in England at the moment but bought the car through a dealer near my next base - I timed it so even with 8-9 weeks for shipping, the car should beat me to my next destination in Texas post-Euro Delivery trip.

What was the turnaround order to ED? My lease is up January 22 so I'd like to order then but do not want delivery until April at the earliest.

If you want to do ED, you should be talking to your dealer to set it up at least 3 months before you intend to pick the vehicle up in Munich. Then, after you drop the car off, it'll take roughly 7-10 weeks for it to be delivered to you in the US/Canada, depending on where you live in the country.
