Name this sound
Ok folks, name that sound...
Is it serious? What is it? Some background, I last heard this sound when I had a vanos replaced two years ago and the shop replaced it, is the vanos? (shop didn't explain what it was). |

That sounds like an electric motor trying to move a flap, about every 5 seconds, and the sound is loudest UNDER the Intake Manifold, where the DISA Flaps are on your 2006 330i.
Here is the TIS circuit diagram for the DISA Actuators (motors): https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...supply/p2Ru7TJ You can click on any BLUE Component ID# and get additional information like "Installation Location" or "Connector View" and here they are for DISA Actuator 1 (Y6540): https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e90-330i-lim/SQTqm16 https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...i-lim/HRT4Ufa5 I would disconnect the connectors on the two DISA Actuators, one at a time, to try to identify which one is "sounding off", but you can probably feel vibration in the case during the ~ 1-second buzz.
