PRE-LCI E90 Navigation
Hello, I know this might be the newby question but I am fairly new to BMW.
Therefore I noticed how some models have two DVD inserts while my car from 2007 PRE-LCI 318i, has only one and that's for regular DVDs. Now my question is, I had got "Business Europe Map" or something like that for navigation but where do I insert it as in regular DVD it does not read it. Any help is appreciated! |

I don’t actually have an idrive car but assuming you do...
Check for other slot in other places Center console Trunk Possibly but just guessing based on past experience with other cars

the one marked DVD, below the CD player, is the one for navigation DVDs.
it will require you to restart the car after you put a new DVD in. if the idrive reads the new DVD it will tell you that. are you trying a burned disc or an OE one? Burned discs are not 100% reliable and require a very specific burn process to get it on the disc properly. I used imgburn and the recommended settings from the coding forum here. IIRC I even used DVD+R discs as opposed to the -R, as that's what the drive is looking for. You have to remember that the OS running these cars dates way further back than 2008. it's very picky about what it wants and what it works with. |

My car has only one DVD insert and it is not for navigation so I am asking where or does it even have the navigation insert since in the computer it has option for navigation. |

However the computer in car has navigation page but it doesn't work without DVD being inserted, so I need to know where I can find the DVD insertion (if there is any at all) |

do you have CCC professional? business? M-ASK? if you have the full professional CCC, then the DVD drive in the dash is the one that takes the navigation disc. I own one. I've made my own updated DVDs. the first step in making your system work, is identifying what system you have. |

I have found on left side of the trunk some closet where it was "CD manager" and it had 9 slots for each CD and I've put navigation DVD in it and re-run the car but it still said that navigation DVD is not inserted. |

Burned disks work fine, but you have to use a specific, high quality disk. Cheap stuff doesn't work at all. I used DVD+RWs, can't remember if it was Sony or Verbatim. I think Verbatim (which was actually DVD+RW DL). I tried both types before I found one that worked. DVD-R definitely do not work.
Paying for 2015 DVDs would be stupid IMO.. |

this is what the wikipedia has to say.
yeah I know. but it's where google led me. "iDrive Business (M-ASK) M-ASK stands for MMI Audio System controller and is manufactured by Becker. This is a limited version of the iDrive computer with a small 6.6" display and is only found on 5, 6 and 7 Series, and the X5 or X6, without the navigation option. In addition, it can be ordered as an option in Europe on the 1 Series and 3 Series as "Business navigation", which has basic navigation abilities. Early versions of the Business navigation could only display directional arrows, but the latest version can also display 2D maps. iDrive Business Navigation uses a different map DVD than iDrive Professional Navigation. In addition, as only one optical drive is available, one cannot use both navigation and listen to a CD simultaneously. When iDrive Professional is ordered the M-ASK system is replaced by either the CCC or CIC in addition to a larger display. iDrive Business is available on the following cars;" I'm guessing that's what you have there. |
