A/C blowing weak on hot days

Hi, my bmw 330i e90 ac blows out very weak for the first 20-30 minutes on hot days, then starts blowing out normally. It blows out cold, but it's just very weak and its not able to cool the cabin. The ac is making a lot of noise when I have it on full blast but still not blowing out enough. I've replaced the cabin filter, expansion valve, and added refrigerant. Does anybody know what it could be?

thank you

Did you try to recharge your ac? You can do it yourself with can from Walmart or you can just go to any mechanic shop and of it more professional way for like 70-80$

Yes I've taken it to the mechanic and they recharged the a/c but the problem still continues

When you say it blows out weak, is there not a lot of air or is the air blowing at full speed but not as cold as you want?

If you park your car outside, the dash gets hot along with all the ventilation plumbing, so it's going to take a while before it really starts to cool off. My E90's AC is definitely weaker than my prior car ('16 Accord) which quickly blew ice cold air at a very high volume. The fastest way to cool it is to leave the windows down for a few minutes with the AC on the fresh air intake to purge all the hot air, then roll the windows up and put it into recirculate mode.

If there is something legitimately wrong and it's abnormally warm for the 20 minutes, take a look at your condenser. It's buried in the center of the dash, accessible by removing the glove box. Search around here and there are plenty of guides showing you how to clean it. If it's clogged up, that will certainly impact performance.

How does the condenser get dirty/clogged up if it's being blown over with filtered air always?

I responded in more detail to your similar post on Bimmerfest, but you should clarify if the volume or rate of air delivered from the vents is LESS than expected, vs. temperature of the air discharged, as those are TWO entirely different issues.

Rats and mice. Or a dusty ass interior with the mixer flap set with recirculate on all the time. Or someone who used a dirty cabin air filter, or ran without one installed. All very unlikely, but still possible.

OK, so now we have some more detail. Less volume of air coming out than expected (fan not spinning fast enough) could be a bad blower motor resistor.

Since you say the fan is causing the issue, recharging the ac would not do it, and it didn’t.

Are all vents blowing slow? Change the zone, blows slow there too?

e90 AC sucks.

an you probably need to pull the fan and see if it's turning hard on it's bushing.

you either need a new fan, or a fan module, or both.

assuming that it's not turning slowly because the fan connector is melting.

You have checked the fan connector and made sure your shit's not going to catch fire right?

Yes all the vents are blowing not blowing out enough. It only happens on hot days. after about 20-30 minutes of driving, theres a big burst of cold air coming out

I've taken it out and it seemed fined, just in case I put a little bit of oil on it to make it spin more smoothly. The a/c sounds loud tho, but I'm not sure if it can sound loud and still the blower motor isn't blowing out good?

I have a black e90 and I find the AC works quite well. When the sun is beating down and it's 100F, no, it can't get the cabin down to 64. But certainly comfortable. Admittedly, I have light interior and (legally) tinted windows, so my car isn't the worst case.

My 7 series was black on black without any tint. It also cooled well. Its compressor drew noticeable torque from the engine. Bogged RPMs whenever the clutch engaged haha.

shouldn't be making any other noises than the sound of air.
possibly the bushigs are wasted.

it's marginal, even when working properly.
My wife's volvo will cool the entire car, quickly. It takes my e91 fifteen minutes to cool down, and the lackluster AC performance is the entire reason I got the windows tinted.

I’m surprised to hear that too, ac is a must here, at least 3/4 of the year.

My e90s ac works great too, it cools down quickly, admittedly, I don’t like it very cold but it gets down to 70s quick when it’s 90 outside and sun beating down, this is with sunroof open too
