Question Getting Spark Plug Seals to sit correctly

Hey All,

Just finished up my valve cover gasket (jesus what a shitty job btw) and I was having issues getting the spark plug seal to seat all the way down pass the groove that retains them in. I tried using snap ring pliers but it kept feeling like the seals were bottoming out before getting down low enough.

I then read a DIY on the VCG and someone mentioned using a socket to tap the seals into place. I did this successfully for most cylinders, but one or two of them I accidentally made the seal visibly crooked. At this point I said **** it and installed the ignition coils and buttoned up the car.

It seems like its driving fine so far. So I guess I'm here to ask if maybe that was okay? Or do I need to go back and replace the seal and make sure it seats correctly? What exactly does it do? I can't imagine it sealing oil away (isn't that what the valve cover gasket does anyways?)

Help put my mind at ease or let me know if I should go back and fix it!

I just used my small pry bar to tap it down into position with a rubber mallet. It doesn't require much force for them to seat properly.
