VRSF 7.5 inch intercooler fitment issues - Would need some input plaese

Looking for some input. My problem seems to apply to people who would have E92 with M package since the undertray is different than without. Intercooler in question is VRSF 7.5 inch competition HD

The front of the undertray has this thick height compared to non M sport. With the thicker intercooler, I suppose there is no space for this thick height to sit freely and has to wedge in between the bumper and intercooler. Bumper being easier to push so from the picture you can see how my bumper is pushing outward.

My question is anyone with M sport undertray did you trim it at all? I already trim almost all the bumper support already. Just wondering if I should trim the undertray to or I'm the one who made a mistake somewhere because in all the DIYs I have watched and read not one talks about trimming undertray.

That's frustrating man. I hope you get it resolved. I have an M Sport but my FMIC is not VRSF and I did not have this problem.

Yes I scrape on everything lol. Guess I'll contact VRSF directly.

There must be someone on here with a 7" or 7.5" intercooler with M sport undertray tho..

I figured I would contact VRSF and they said to not use the rubber spacers included.

I'll tray that tonight or tomorrow and report back here.

I have a VRSF 7" HD. The budge isn't that bad, nothing as in your picture but very minuscule for me. Also I kept the front grill on in front of the IC as a form of protection from any big sized debris. Just make sure it lines up well with the hot side and cold side piping and screw it down well in the OEM screw locations.

Did you use the rubber bushing or did you kit come with them? If not then that's probably my problem, gotta take em off.

Yeah I wanted to test grille with or without, without looks definitely cool but puts it at risk. But I don't think I'll get anything worse than pebbles..

No rubber bushings. Don't think it came with any.

Well, I've removed the bushing and the intercooler now definitely sits higher and closer to the frame than the ground but still have a bumper bulge and I scrape on everything that isn't really flat... Guess I'll grind the whole front of the under tray almost.

Ok update. What a pain. Had the remove the whole M sport attachment + trim the top of the tray. Had to trim the fenders to where they meet with the undertray since it was giving to much height. I also had to make new holes in the bumper and put c clips in new spots so the bumper didn't sag and could bolt onto because the original bumper wholes wouldn't line up since I cut of the M bumper thing.

Huge PITA but finally got it how I like it and will stop rubbing hopefully.

I started on installing my 7" vrsf last night, I only had about 40 min of time but only got as far as undoing both inlet/outlet of the IC and tried pulling the upper charge pipe out but couldn't seem to do it.

Any pointers on getting it out?

It sounds like you ended up trimming quite a lot off, I'm not looking forward to that and I wonder if it will be even worse since i have a convertible.

Upper charge pipe or lower charge pipe? The lower charge pipe as a real damn finicky situation on IS since no DIY show this. You have the rubber mount onto the rad fan like all 335i but the IS have the auxiliary (and some certain 335i) coolant cooler so there is a coolant hose running from passenger to driver around rad fan level. There are clips that hold it into the fan that break easy to watch out. You to finagle the coolant pipe when you will remove charge pipe. I think I had to even remove my lower charge pipe from the bottom because of this, or else the rubber mount wouldn't clear coolant pipe.

Sorry I meant lower charge pipe. I was also trying to remove it before taking the FMIC out so that probably didn't help.

The convertible also has these weird mudflap things on each side that are interfering with everything so I think I'm going to remove those. Was just trying to avoid removing more underbody stuff since they are like a million screws.

Sometimes I miss working on my WRX, everything was so easy.

Yep, what I did is drop the intercooler first then the charge pipe.

As for the mudflap thing dude I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Before I would just remove all the underbody screws and bend them out the way but the day I had to remove my fender lienr is when I realised those things are part of the front section of the fender liner. Again, something IS only I think or they are M sport fender liners.

Not sure if this was mention already but on the 335is specially. Remove the radiator fan when doing the intercooler. Makes removing the lower charge pipe a breeze.

Yea remove the radiator fan for sure, makes the job hella lot easier and more room to work with. Then you can just take off the lower chargepipe thats mounted on with some back and forth wiggling force.
