Hey im having trans problems too. I have the 5088 code. Did your mechanic pull your code?
My sensor is telling my computer that my trans is in another gear so it doesn't let the car start. I'm working on mines right now and will try to help as much as i can. 5088 sensor gearbox selector switch. Good luck with your car |

That's ridiculous. This is the first time it's ever happened

Hawaiian's 335 is probably a ZF transmission. OP's 325i might be GM?
I think the mechanic might be stuffing a junk yard transmission in there for $1200. Try a transmission specialist. |

I don't remember exactly what it was as I eventually tuned out. Probably will be doing more research later on if it becomes more common

You can change out the transmission fluid and filter and see how that helps. Is yours a GM or ZF transmission?

I have a e91with 199k miles and it has gone into limp mode once or twice -- but it seems to be ok after pulling over and shutting off the car and restarting -- BMW quoted me a butt load to replace the transmission -- and another told me it was probably just a dirty sensor and to just keep a eye on it -- Honestly in my case its been driving fine ever since -- good luck!
-- forgot to mention the error was in the same gears 5 & 6 |
