Cool Are you getting tired of your E90?

I am. I know, it's wrong!!!! but i am, recently test driven the Z4 and came back into my car wondering why I bought this bus! And to top it off, it's cheaper than my car, loaded with options, has a loverly 3 litre 6 cyl motor and you can enjoy all the sound after 10s once the roof is down. Damn it...

next on the street I first saw the new VW Passat CC (coupe sedan like Merc CLS, dunno if you guys get them in US, here is link to pic: http://www.autoreview.ru/archive/200...G_2917_750.jpg) .. This is one good looking sedan, I know it will be well built and sport seats on passats are very comfy (my 2nd car was B5 Passat btw). And I like how it looks, like a poor man's CLS, but I don't care!

And then the bastards at VW are coming out soon with a car cheaper than Golf GTI but much better looking - the Scrirocco. That car looks great as well, best looking hatch I've seen for years (on par with the classic VW Corrado, remember those?).

I mean i like my E90, every time i walk to it i just like that car very much and it feels solid, very frugal, and great at long distance travel, with enough performance in the city to be on par with 325s. BUT...

I think i want a damn sports car. What do i do? This is a shit economy these days, no time to be shifting through cars and stuff, but that Z4 (hands down my first choice) has got me hooked on it.... Anyone gone through these illnesses before and what's the cure (don't say Buying it!!).

I go through the exact same internal battle every couple of months, but inevitably talk myself out of trading my car in for something 'better'...
The best thing to do is rent a crappy car for a couple of days and then drive your E90 again. It feels like a brand new car!!!
Luckily, I have to go on business trips every couple of months where I end up driving some POS Chevy or Pontiac... When I return to my car, it just feels so right!
Also, rememeber that all of those Veedubs are all wrong-wheel-drive and they just aren't as balanced as our E90's.

Hmmmm, Well you are in Europe so "Buying it" with such a shity economy might not be wise....Are single? Not owing your own home? Move to USA. HOOOOOOORAYYYYYYYY ...!

I have the 335i and we recently bought the 3.0 6MT Z4 for my wife and i know what u mean....It might not be as quick as the 335i...BUT it handles like a dream and you can pop the roof

I'm in europe, not single but no kids so i feel that my rear seats are a waste 99% of the time.... plus you are asked to give someone a lift all the time, lol.

Move to USA - been there (in CT), done that, bought the tshirt... Was good time when i was young, but came back home for real grown up work and schstuff.

I drove it. And then I drove 135. Unless you need the space or bothered by styling of 1er, I don't see any reason why i'd chose E92 over 135 if i needed a sports car.... but i don't like the styling. It's good point about Z4, but judging on the sketches, the upcoming Z4 will be pricier (thanks for that metal roof) and won't look as good as current car with it's quirky lines and funky shapes. I really like z4 and never gave it a try for practicality reasons... it was foolish.

The current Z4 is quirky alright. yes it's funky. I call it the worst BMW design, right there with the current 7 and X3.

Well, this is an argument on taste, and you'll never win it. I really like that it causes people to react with its looks. I hate cars like Audi A5 - everybody likes it. It's not the cars fault, but I never liked getting what everybody else likes. I try to be bit different. (never mind me driving a sedan 3 series in silver , i bought it used)

after 2 yrs, I am kinda bored with the E90 or any 3 series. I was looking into a used 7 series recently. I should have bought a used 7 for the price as a new 3. There is just no class/luxury with the 3

Thats why I got DGM, no one has it around here! I do love my car though. But as car enthusiasts, I am sure we all get the urge to go try something else. But of all the cars I test drove: S4, A4, G35, C300, 335xi - I know I made the right decision!

I think if you owned any of the other cars you would get bored of them as well. It is just human nature. I am sure your car perform well but if you owned a 335d or 335i I am sure you wuold feel MUCH different.

I usually get a 3 year "itch". Considering an E92 335i upgrade soon.

But I am growing tired of E90Post (present company excluded ). Other than the E90 LCI, there is little new info to talk about.

Fortunately, I have other toys to keep the automotive/driving passion going.

Buddy I carpool with every other day has a Z4. Single, no kids. Gets 300+ days a year with the top down. As long as it's not precipitating or < 40* the top is down. When it's chilly you crank the heater. When it's hot (like right now here, 100*+) you crank the A/C.

That is, except for times like right now, when the top is broken and he has to hand crank it closed. I wouldn't own a Z4 for longer than the warranty!

I got that same feeling of boredom a few years back and ended up trading my 5-year old beloved E46 328i for a G35x. 20 months later, bitterly disappointed, I traded that for a Mazda3 (nice car, by the way) which I enjoyed, but as soon as I felt financially secure enough, I ordered a 335i. That feeling of wanting to drive all the time is back, and all is right with the world (at least in terms of my car) again.

Just my story...

Really, it is all in your head. There is no cure other than change your attitude.

If you got the Z4 you'd be like "damn I can't fit my golf clubs, it is so loud inside when the top is up on a long drive, WTF it isn't that much faster than my old car.. whatever"

There's always a way to put down your current car when you are wanting something else. Just remember why you got your car in the first place, stay the course and be more honest with yourself next time

I'm 2 years into a 3 year lease with my 2006 330xi and I'm already starting to look at reviews and looking into what car to get next. I won't get another 3 series for the same reasons I'm having that itch. I love driving, but I feel I want something different now. I also love the Z4 (I love the lines of the hard top M coupe even more) and would be sorely tempted to get one, but alas I have a kid now (almost one year) and I do need to pick her up from day care every day so a 2 seater isn't really an option. The wifes car is big enough for the 3 of us for trips etc so I can go with something impractical, I just need a back seat.

It's not that I'm unhappy with my car, I love it, especially as others have said after driving rental pos's quite a lot recently (2 day warranty work and in the shop for a week after someone rear ended me). It's just the want of change, if I had the money there is no doubt I would have 5 or 6 cars, but I don't earn that much so the best I can do is take 3 year leases (which are approx. the same as 4 year leases) and change up every 3 years.

Do you own your car? lease? finance? If you can get it for less that yours (were you looking at a used one?) then why not just do a swap, sure it may not make sound financial sense, but enjoy the freedom of being able to have a 2 seater while you still can, I reckon it's going to be another 15 or 20 years before I can either afford a second play car or 10 years (if we don't have more kids) is big enough to sit with no booster seat etc in a 2 seater.

Sorry I didn't help at all, but I'd just go out and buy it
