AWD limp mode
long story made as short as possible. 2008 335xi, started going into limp mode when I gassed it about two months ago. Threw code P119A (TMAP sensor on charge pipe). It used to have a cobb tune on it and would throw random cylinder misfires here and there, so I replaced the coils and plugs and flashed it back to stock assuming that the code it was throwing was the same one. When it did it again and I pulled it, that's when I saw the P119A.
So, I started tearing the motor down to get to the charge pipe, and that's when I noticed that the MAP sensor on the manifold (which SHOULD throw a P119B) had been chewed through by a rodent (not my first rodeo, a rodent destroyed the wiring harness on my brand new '16 PP Mustang, was in the shop for a month). Seeing that, I, again, assume that's the problem. I figured out how to take the plug apart, added some pigtails, and then soldered it back onto the harness and plugged it in. I cleaned the MAP sensor with some MAF sensor cleaner first as well. Took it out and hammered it, same exact thing. Engine limp mode. Except this time it didn't throw a code. Turned it off, let it sit for a few minutes, started it back up, no lights or limp mode. Took it down the driveway, hammered it, engine limp mode. Now here's where I think I screwed up. Not thinking at the time that BMW doesn't build cars like Ford, I unhooked the battery and let it sit for ten minutes and then plugged it back in thinking that would reset the computer and possibly get it to throw a new code for me. Now before I even start it, it goes into AWD/DSC limp mode. This is the first time I've ever seen that, and again, it throws no code. I'm so confused... |

This is normal. Just drive it. Usually goes away for me in about the first 20 feet. I think after disconnecting the batt it wants to see a full rotation of each of the four wheels or something like that.

Yeah it worked. Drove it about ten miles today and was fine. Still the small matter of the charge pipe. If I'm replacing the charge pipe anyway, would you get a stock one or one with a BOV? I don't care about sound or hp, my main concern is reliability (yeah yeah, I know...)

Thank you nsjames! I had the lights on and it was driving me crazy. Wife would not drive the 328. Saw a fault with the steering angle sensor on BMW Pro Tools wasn't sure what to do with that. Saw your post here on the reset, all lights on dash off now! Woohoo! Thanks bro. R
