Not that I have found yet. I bet one of the aftermarket companies will come out with something in a while...they always do. I have seen some products (not for our cars yet) that incorporate DVD, rear Camera, etc. in to the Nav screen. I am waiting for something like that!

Yes, but you dont need to look aftermarket. BMW actually have their own. Its offerred as a BMW accesssory and is available for cars that have the TV tuner and those that don't.

It may only be available in Europe though, not sure if its in the BMW USA parts database.

You can even get 360-degree view cameras. Here's my post from a few months ago (#43): http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...+camera&page=2 .

Not wanting to put a damper on folks enthusiasm for this, I did find this post on e90post where a guy had a USA built E90, and ordered the Retrofit camera kit ..... its a old post, so need to bear that in mind.

BMW rear view camera retrofit problems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings,
I may be the first tester of the BMW rear view camera retrofit. I currently work in Germany; my car is a US-specs 2006 330i with idrive and the nav. I ordered the camera retrofit, which was supposed to work on my car according to BMW specs (was listed on the dealer's list). The dealer installed the camera and the converter box (all supplied by BMW), tried for three days to make it work, including several calls to Munich but to no avail. If the camera retrofit worked (although the image was not using the full width of the navigation screen), the rest of the car's idrive system would shut down. After three days of trying to sort it out with BMW, BMW support in Munich told the dealer to send it back for them to investigate further. The dealer pulled the camera out and sent it back to Munich. End of story.

Bottom line: retrofits are always tricky business. I had a similar experience back in the States with my previous 3 series (E46) with the BMW bluetooth retrofit that also didn't work as advertised.

I hope my experience will help others who contemplate retrofitting the BMW camera."

That's good feedback. I would wait for a succesful install report on this, given it's cost. If I order it (from the dealer only), I will do so on he proviso that the dealer make it work or it's no cost to me.

I was looking around for info on this last night and i discovered that BMW of Canada sells this as a accessory. So you may be able to go north of the border and have this done at a dealership.

Bear in mind that the one BMW Canada show uses its own LCD display which covers the front left vent. I've no idea if this would be compatible with the i-Drive display, or that can be used instead.

If anyone is interested I'm getting the retrofit install in my 08 E92 M3 by the end of this week. I'll make sure to take pics and let everyone know how install went. I ordered through my dealership here in Germany and my M3 is an American spec car. Hope all goes well...

I just posted pics of the rearview/backup camera I got installed at BMW today....its an original BMW part....I can get the part number from my SA if anyone wants it...install took a little bit, about a day, because it was the first time the dealership installed the camera in an M3....by the way...I have an '08 E92 US Spec car, but live in Germany.

So has anybody tried this yet? What about the 360 degree cam? Personally, I'd love both.
