Not exactly sure (well not sure at all), what this means but in chatting with Grassy_91 today about our dyno runs tomorrow (shameless plug) he mentioned to me that while at MP today getting his meth controller dialed in Alex did a modification to his fuel pump?!

Sounds like we may have our first MP fuel pump modified beta car out there in the wild now courtesy of Grassy_91. Will have to get more info tomorrow when I see both of them.

Note:
just passing along information that I found interesting, other than what I have already shared I am completely in the dark and not the guy to ask.

Anymore details on this? Would be nice to run a full E85 MP tune

We’re still testing out 3.5 gallons right now. The next step is 4.5 and then 5. I’ll tell you what though- 3.5 compared to just 2 makes a noticeable difference. The fact that I also have meth makes up for not being able to run full e85

Do you test ethanol content prior to putting in the tank? I can run 4 gallons stock pump now but I use an ethanol tester to understand % content (which seems to be low ~ 65%).

Yeah I have similar setup. Intake, catless, MP 2.5 tune and trans tune. I've gone as high as 4 gallons of E85 and u can feel the difference. Honestly I feel like 3 gallons is the sweet spot for driveability and performance but that's just me basing off how my car feels. Very curious about the fuel pump work he had done but being that I'm in MD I'm not sure Alex can help me there...

How are BM3 beta users able to tune full E85 on the stock b58 fuel system?

I don’t test ethanol content whatsoever lol.

According to Alex, the newer 2017 and 2018 340i’s have fuel pumps with much less fuel pressure compared to the ‘16’s. The first time I went to him with Chenry and had both our cars logged, you could see just how much better Chenry’s Fuel pressure was compared to mine. His is a 2016 build date. With the fuel pump mod we’re still testing out how many gallons of e85 we can use before it starts misfiring or having issues.

I’m not sure but Alex is running full e85 on his test car and there are a lot of issues with that. If you also watched the livestream yesterday from EAS, they had dyno’d a 440i with bm3 stage 1 on 91 and it was putting down only 355whp/419tq. Stock baseline was 320hp/355tq. They also said that the 440 was knocking like crazy. Honestly if you’re local (which I know you are) there is no better option than Alex. You just need to know how to get a hold of him but after that he goes to great lengths to make sure you’re happy with the product. He logged my car like 7 times Tuesday and said it’s running very strong. He was also able to make some software adjustments with my lpfp as well. Sure it’s expensive but you get what you pay for. Night and day difference compared to the jb4 with meth

This seems like something really worth looking into... no?

I’m not too concerned about it right now. Alex’s next move is to try and do an S58 fuel pump retrofit into our cars. It’s nice to see he’s experimenting with fuel pumps and e85 though. He’s a really busy guy

I'm local and looking forward to meeting up with you fellas someday soon. I'm waiting for the MHD back end flash so i can continue using my JB4 to control boost and meth and hopefully run a higher E85 blend. I'm currently running 5 gallons of E85 (E30 blend) with 100% meth.

I assume 16 psi or so while MP is 20 psi or so... which means all timing. So yeah you could go full E85 but it’s just a different way of getting to the finish line.

Makes sense. I'm currently boosting 20-21 psi with my JB4 and hitting about 18.5-19* of timing at 6000 rpm or so. It would be nice to see some data logs with BM3, MP, and MHD back-end flash once everything is released for comparison. 16 psi though....... that's really low i would hope it was near 18-19 psi.

Logs look great fuel trims are in the 30’s and AFR is in the acceptable range considering it a piggyback tune. Pulled on a F80 M3CS on the freeway last week

My stock M40i was hitting over 19psi near redline. Most MPPSK's do the same.

Also..to add to this:

"The B58 debuted a few years ago but this updated iteration gets a new cooling system, head, timing chain, oil pump and a forged crankshaft. The block and air induction system have been modified, and the new high-pressure direct-injection fueling system is rated at 5,076 psi (350 bar), up from 3,626 psi (250 bar).”

This is referring to the G05's version of the B58...which will hopefully iterate to all newer 2019 B58 vehicles.
