OEM Parts 718m 21 inch wheels
Hey everyone.
I recently ordered my M40i in Carbon Black which I originally went with the 19 inch wheel option. I had a change of heart and tried to change the order to the 21 inch 718m wheel upgrade the day after the order was submitted, but it was too late as the car already entered into production. Can anyone recommend OEM parts websites or shops (in NY area) that are legit? Wondering how much it would be compared to the dealer? I'm not sure how much the dealer would charge but I would imagine its an arm and a leg. Oddly, I haven't been able to find the 718m wheels on shopbmwusa.com so I have no clue what it would cost. Lastly, does anyone know if the dealer would price out or sell the wheels at the upgrade price $1,900 when you custom build? I'm just trying to figure out the best way to purchase these wheels. Thanks |

Even though the upgrade price is "only" $1900 at the time of ordering, they also count on not having to give you a set of standard 19" so the total cost of that upgraded 21" is $1900 plus whatever cost you to buy that set of 19".
You can go to dealer and ask them to help, and threaten to cancel your order if they don't help you to get that 21" set at reasonable price. However, it will backfire if you get a good deal on the existing order and end up wasting your effort. I suggest you keep the 19" as Winter tires set since you need them between Dec and March/April at the Northeast, and buy a set of lightly used 21" from the Classified. Good luck. |
