So, I am starting to prep my car for a big move to the other side of the world.
Before I do so, I though about possibly upgrading a few things such as the cluster and idrive.

Car is a 2015 340i with NBT2 ID4 with extended black cluster.
Thinking of getting Simon to upgrade iDrive to Id6 and fit the 6WB.

Has anyone upgraded from Id4 to Id6?
Are there any new features that would make the upgrade worth the cost?
Its not the cheapest upgrade, and I do prefer the look of Id5 and Id6 compared to Id4. But I dont really want to pay a lot of £ just for it to look a bit better.

Maps any better?

I have Id5, the touch screen has some neat functionality but the split screen annoys me, I have it set on the weather but I have to reset it to the weather every time I get in the car as it defaults to another function and that didn't happen with Id4. I think ID6 looks the most up to date Id5 isn't really that much better than 4

I went ID4->iD6. massive improvement. Maps are better, plus you are able to use carplay aswell which is great is you have an iphone for music and calls etc.

i sourced my own headunit but Simon sorted out upgrading the istep to 18-07 (NBTEVO_O)

Simon is the go to guy for coding. He is on the south coast (Southampton I believe) but comes up to midlands etc..

Search on FB group for Simon or Bavarian Coding.

If you've got touchscreen it's ID6.

Of course, The 7 gets lots of early tech/features that other models have to wait for.

Well I never, I always thought the touchscreen was the surefire way of telling ID5 & ID6 apart!

Well it is unless you're sat in a 7, so that makes it easier for you.

Tim you know about coding, would I be able to code ID6 into the car to upgrade the interface, because apart from the touch screen and the massively annoying gesture control it's not that up to date these days (after all the car was launched 4 years ago) compared to what you have the 2018/19 X3 which is ID6 I think? And I think that looks a lot better more of a step on in terms of graphics.
