Last order date for 2019 MY M5?

Anyone know the last order date for the 2019 MY M5? And along with that, the first order date for the 2020?

Thanks.

Start of production for the 2019MY M5 began in July 2018 and ends June 2019...so order dates would probably end sometime in June or very early July.

I can't speak for the SOP/EOP for 2020MY, but if it follows the same timeline, SOP would be July 2019. Again, this is pure speculation/assumption re: the 2020 model.

Hmm, for some reason I thought the last order date was earlier last year. Maybe I'll have to search around and see if I can find last years date. It might have been another car I was thinking of.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

I'm aware of the July switchover for production, but most manufacturers seem to stop taking orders 1-3 months before their EOP. I was assuming it was that way with BMW. This will be my first BMW (or possibly an M550i will be, I haven't made my mind up entirely yet, though part of that will depend on an order allocation with my dealer for the M5) so I'm kind of learning on the fly before ordering. They seem to do a lot very different from domestic manufacturers.

I did order a 2019 m550 back in July of 2018 but I did not get it due to other issues. late July was the earliest I could order it. if memory serves it began production I. last few days of July. my dealer did say sometimes the first orders can take longer. not sure about that though

Good to know, thanks. I'm not really constrained on ordering later or the car taking longer, though my lease will be up well before I get the new car and I'll end up renting for a couple months. I have, however, decided I was going to wait for a '20 MY, based on the (maybe) changes coming. I may regret it, but I'd really like to get iDrive 7 and the full digital instrument cluster (though I really wish the speedo and tach were round)

with HP increase for 2020 on the m550 is gonna make it a bit harder for me to choose m550 for all out m5. is the extra 25 or so grand worth it ? right now I would say yes

Yeah, probably for me as well, though it's not just HP that is drawing me to the M5. More options for driving setup and configuration, the M5 buttons and other such things are interesting to me. But yeah, the $25K difference might not be as worth while for '20 MY.

there may be a good deal to score on a 2019 m5 in April or May . depending upon my money situation. it would be more worth it if I can cut the price difference in half

That's an interesting idea. I wish I knew what exactly was actually coming to '20 MY, so I'd know if holding off would matter to me or not. Which, of course is why they don't release that info too early.

I doubt there will be any major changes to either the 2020 M550i or M5. The LCI for the 5 series is not coming until the 2021 model year so I would doubt you'll see any change to either HP or the iDrive version until 2021.

Case in point: the 7 series is one year ahead of the 5 series in the model life-cycle. The 7 gets its LCI (along with iDrive 7.0) for 2020. Won't see these changes in the 5 until 2021.

No one expects the 5 series LCI this coming MY, but there have been numerous reputable sources stating the 5 series will be getting iDrive 7 and that the M550i would be getting the engine from the M850i (the old ones is to be retired immediately, I believe - ok, think I'm wrong about that as the X7 50i has the 450HP engine apparently).

I won't be upset if neither happen, but it very much looks likely, so I'll go ahead and give it another couple months before I order. It's not hurting me any to wait. Honestly, it'll help me lower my payment if I get an M5, as I'll have another $20K-$30K available for down payment.

You might reference this post: https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686 specifically the July 2018 info re: MY2020 G30.

Will the 2020 M5 have the instrument cluster from the new 3 series? I don't really care for it, I think i like the current one, but I would like a 2020.

The rumors say that it will. I'm not crazy about the shape of the new cluster, but I dislike the rings and shape/design of the current cluster.

The upcoming 2020 X3M/X4M will have the current M5 digital cluster (rings) and iDrive 6.0, for what it's worth. See pics

Interesting. Well, we'll see if the 5 series rumors are correct in a couple months
