Without codes it could be pretty much anything...for instance it could be that the anterior flux eductor is out of calibration...

It could be any number of issues: vacuum leak, carbon build up, clogged DPF, failing HPFP. Get access to a code scanner and report back with the codes to get more feedback.

Also, consider posting this in the diesel sub-forum section. I dont think a lot of those guys frequent the general E9X section you posted in. You can find the diesel sub-forum here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=377

Single VNT in the 330d no? Might be a sticky VNT vane issue leading to over boost. Restarting the car will fix it.
