Updates and top mount fault

Just collected the 340i from BMW After dropping it off for checking a clunk/rubbing noise from the front to find out it has a failing top mount. The car is only 3 months old with 1700 miles how Can a top mount fail In that amount of time.

It also had a DME update. I have already noticed the exhaust is quieter not happy lost all the pops and bangs as I have MPE on it.

Anyone else had top mount issues or the update done?

I gues it was a manufacturing defect, they usually show themselves in the first few thousand miles.

Mine had 2 new top mounts at approx 2 months old.

Sounded like a dashboard rattle to me but clearly my hearing is broken.
