Can i retrofit a high option part?
I need “option x” but my part have “option x, y, z, w”. If i you this part, can i disable the other options without getting errors?

It may depend on what part and options you are talking about here. For example, a FEM may support multiple options, but as long as you only code what options you actually have, it would still work.

In my experience this won’t give you errors. My msport steeringwheel is full option, but i’ve only retrofitted the heating since i don’t have the parts for lane changing etc. and i haven’t gotten any errors yet. Same goes for the control unit for cameras. I’ve installed the unit that supports every available camera (sides, back, mirrors) but i only installed the back camera and it works perfectly fine, no errors.
It depends on the coding, if a part has certain options but the car doesn’t “know” these options are there then the car won’t throw errors about the options that aren’t in use. |
