If I recall correctly OP bought MHD but then it said he couldn't do it without doing a ECU unlock because he has late year E90 and the ECU is locked or something.

Just get MHD, if it's an N55 E90 then there is no unlocking of the ECU needed. I am stage 2+ with full bolt ons and a 3.5 bar MAP running 20psi average and I love it. When I get around to installing the Pure stage 2 I will get a custom tune from www.twistedtuning.com. The tuners doesn't need to be local, you do everything thru email and the MHD app.

The Jb4 is a piggy back device and it is not for the casual tuner. It can and does work well, but it requires an attentive owner and a bit of knowledge to get dialed in and even then those who have switched to MHD (full flash tune) have never looked back.

Oh I see you actually have a 2013 E92 so:

Q: How can I determine if the DME is directly flashable or needs a one time bench flash?
A: got to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN in serial number. Click Browse parts the ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM and check both CONTROL UNITS > MEVD1726 section. If the it says "No parts found matching your car." you have a MEVD172 which is directly flashable.


But even if it needs a bench flash, the turn around with Justin at twistedtuning.com is really quick, like two days to something.

Didn't you already purchase the MHD flash app? Just go to Eurocharged in Houston and get the DME unlocked.
