Quick access pistol carry in an F30 sedan?
Anyone find a good place to keep a pistol in the F30 that could be accessed quickly? My USP40 fits almost perfect in the center console and thats normally where Ive kept it since I bought the car. Yesterday I had someone open the passenger door and get in while in a store parking lot "complete accident". They didn't do it super quick, but I realized if it were a situation where they were going to rob me, I would have never had time to lift the lid to the console, grab my pistol, and flip it around to defend myself. Saw this post from 08 but couldn't find anything for F30 drivers. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=196405
I know they have the holsters that go under the steering column, but I'm sure I would be hitting it with my legs/knee, and if BMW was half way decent with cup holder placement I've also seen the cup holder holsters that I really like, but would work for our cars. Was curious if there's something anyone has figured out that doesn't require drilling holes, and easy to access in an emergency. |

I saw someone 3d printed a key holder and stuck it on the side near the cup holder. Maybe same idea but for a holster but again you might hit it with your knee.

For a 335 but I'm sure they make one for the 328 as well.

Are you not allowed to carry the pistol on your person?

There is this thing called lock the door all the time. So no one can open it from outside and jump in. Your BMW have this on iDrive setting. Now you have plenty of time to grab that gun of yours.

Don't have to worry about this in Italy. Police hardly has pistols too . Anybody tries to rob me, bad day for them however.

What is this driving around without the doors locked of which you speak? I haven't done that in a car since 1968 and living in London.
Yes, quick access to your gun while seated in a car can be an issue unless you wear a jacket to conceal a shoulder rig at all times. Even appendix or crossdraw carry presents problems. Other than that all I can suggest is a holster secured between the seat and the console or under the column. |

The struggle is real... I carry. I also wear a coat this time of year. There is no way I could access my 1911 while wearing a seatbelt and a coat. Not quickly anyway. Tennessee law states a firearm may be stored in a vehicle legally as long as it is "unable to be seen by normal observation" (cannot be seen from outside the car). This leaves out mounting a pistol on the steering column or on the outside of the console.
My Ford F150's console is deep enough to vertically mount a Blackhawk Serpa modular holster on the inside. It's a perfect fit for a full-sized weapon, however, the console in my BMW is not deep enough to mount a full-size weapon vertically without taking the A/C vents out from underneath the console and cutting the bottom of the console tray to mount a holster vertically. Even then it may not be deep enough and I really don't want to cut up my console. So far my solution is to just shoulder holster (which I hate) my weapon. Hip carry is much more comfortable to me.

I have msport seats too. I usually carry at 3:30ish but when I get in the car I move it to appendix carry. Remember to put the seatbelt behind the gun against your body. Not over the fun. Wise tip a nurse friend told me.

Do you have a OWB or IWB holster? Mine are IWB so for obvious reasons makes its hard for seatbelt placement

Curious if this moves with the seat or if its connected to the center console.
I like the placement but don't want the seat rubbing on it if I move it forward https://www.amazon.com/Highway-Holst...6836aa869bb8f1 |

You cannot carry a gun in plain view in Texas. IMO, best practice is to keep it in a lock box. You at least need to keep it hidden like you are now.
I don't think it's worth having quick access to a weapon in a car considering the risk. It's too easy to forget about it and then have someone break into your car and steal it. Locking your doors is probably the best way to give you the advantage in a life threatening situation. Unless you are some high value target, the chances of needing to quick draw in your car is near zero. |

I carry iwb. The holster works fine for aiwb as well. I carry a Glock 32 with TLR-7 light so it’s not exactly small. I should really switch to a smaller gun.
