prophylactic egr valve replacement

so my f15 x5 had poor fuel economy and hesitancy and lag(from around 40k-48kmiles no error codes).
had a egr valve and cooler replacement after it went into limp mode when the aforementioned parts(which are under recall) broke and its like a different car. Very responsive with minimal lag even in comfort mode and smooth like butter.
Seeing the remarkable rebirth of my X5 the question is whether I should have this done for my 335d which is at 40k miles/2 yrs prophylactically to improve performance.
Anyone done this?
