When you scroll through iDrive, is the selection indicated by a red box or shaded red bar?

Red box = CIC
Shaded red bar = NBT

UK cars Model Years are based on Plates....as opposed to USA.

OP states he purchased a 2013 U.K. car which could mean anywhere from January - December of 2013.

Unlike USA cars, UK cars had NBT beginning in January of 2013 (July 2013 / 2014 MY in USA with few exceptions).

Given that, I suspect OP has NBT.

But the method above posted by jh_f30 would allow OP to make sure.

Simple resolution. Check your map version. CIC uses Premium Maps. NBT uses NEXT maps. Ex: north america 2019-1 Premium.

I don't think you can do tyre pressure as I believe the monitoring is done by the ABS not sensors in the tyres.

So the brakes, not in the tyres, monitor the pressure inside the tires.......

Right

Search TPMS

Not sure how it works but I don't have TPMS in the tyres.

This explains the different systems.

That was an interesting read, wasn’t even aware of using the tyre pressure via the ABS system, looks like it uses a combination of overall diameter and rotational speed.

From your link

“Since the 1st November 2012 all types of new motor vehicles and mobile homes sold in the EU must be equipped with a TPMS.

What capabilities must the TPMS have?

Already in the vehicle manufacture a direct or indirect TPMS must be integrated, a subsequent equipping is considered as not conforming.

Characteristics of the TPMS according to EU law:

Warning in the event of pressure loss in an individual tyre (within 10 minutes):
20% lower than operating pressure (Pwarm) at 1.5 bar

Warning in the event of pressure loss in all four tyres (sudden and creeping loss):
20% lower than operating pressure (Pwarm) at 1.5 bar

Determination of pressure loss at speeds of 40 km/h to the maximum driving performance of the vehicle

Data transfer on 434 MHz”

Tpms Vs Dsc

I believe the difference between the TPMS and DSC is that some of the older models measure a rolling radius on the wheels using DSC. If it senses a change in the rolling radius even slightly it knows what wheel is losing air. The TPMS sensors actually give a pressure and temperature reading back to the OBC. My 2015 435 is using NBT and I can't code the feature on to read the pressure and temperature. I think that's only a CIC feature in later year models 2016 and up where it's using TPMS and not the DSC system.

I could be wrong.. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. The coding bits are for sure accurate. I code quite a bit.

I can code pressure and temp on to the iDrive but it does nothing due to not having the sensors in the tyre.
